Dressbarn and Ascena Retail Group
Structure Tone was retained to provide construction management services to Dressbarn and its parent company, Ascena Retail Group, for the build-out of their new LEED® Gold Level corporate headquarters.
With a firm move-in date, Structure Tone completed the construction/renovation of two, three-story buildings totaling 195,000sf, which consisted of the complete renovation of a 125,000sf existing structure and a new, out-of-the-ground 50,000sf facility for Ascena.
Construction began on the headquarters by demolishing the existing structure down to its structural steel and concrete, and then converting it into a 145,000sf, three-story building. Elements of the new facility include a large, three-story atrium, specialty skylight, three story display wall, 7,500sf cafeteria, 5,300sf fitness facility and 4,000sf mock store completely fit-out as a prototype retail store.
Overall, Dressbarn’s facility consists of general design aesthetics, including exposed duct work, floating ceilings and wood paneling throughout. Additional support spaces include both general and private offices with glass fronts, open work areas, conference/telepresence rooms, team space, server IT room, pantries, learning/training center and loading docks.
Ascena’s new headquarters broke ground six months after Dressbarn. With the goal of coordinating the buildings, the same curtain wall design was used with a simple change in pattern to differentiate them. The third floor features an executive suite consisting of four offices, conference room, pantry and 45-seat board room with wood and fabric wall panels. The 20-acre site was completely improved with new lighting, parking lots and landscaping. To meet LEED® requirements a zero waste policy was followed, along with sustainable landscaping and lifestyle features, the project incorporates native and adaptive plants, a car pool program with preferred parking, a wellness program with a community garden, an onsite gym offering nutrition and exercise classes, as well as organic food selections in the cafeteria.
