Panasonic Technology Center
Our firm provided construction management services to Panasonic for the construction of a new technology center to house engineering offices, a lab and various testing facilities for its research and development division.
The facility comprises precast exterior walls with a structural steel building core and roof trusses. The new technology center totals 47,000sf, with 12,803sf of warehouse space and 34,197sf of lab and office space.
The project was built on a brownfield revitalization site that required a below-slab vapor mitigation system and an integral vapor/moisture barrier. This required that all below-slab utilities be coordinated prior to the installation of the system, and all below-grade sanitary/storm systems be supported via slab supports. In addition, our team coordinated the layout of below slab electrical and data installations with Panasonic’s vendors, which was critical for the lab stations and testing equipment. Our team also carefully managed the erection of the steel and precast panels in order to tie-in the panels to the steel for structural stability. This process, including total building and steel erection, took 27 working days.
