Volta Data Centres
This central London’s largest data centre projectGo to https://stobuildinggroup.com/sectors/stomissioncritical/ comprised the complete redevelopment of an existing 90,000sf facility on an island site for a colocation company. In addition to extensive core and shell and structural modifications, we delivered 10,000sf of technical space with further 30,000sf to follow in subsequent phases. The project included two internal subterranean 33kV UKPN switch rooms and transformer rooms on the new 33kV London network.
The data centre is stacked vertically over seven stories and was delivered to an Uptime Tier III design. Located in the heart of central London, the project presented a real challenge in logistics, as the building is positioned on an island site surrounded on all sides by residential, commercial, and retail premises. In addition, there was no external lay down space to accommodate the complete gut back to core and shell of a fully fitted facility, as well as its full reinstatement to a new state-of-the-art data centre.
