Columbia University’s LEED® Gold-Level Campbell Sports Center, New York, NY
Columbia University’s new LEED® Gold certified Campbell Sports Center project received a Platinum Award for Building/Technology Systems. Building information modeling (BIM) was utilized for clash detection and coordination, the first significant project undertaken by the University utilizing this technology, which will ultimately be used to manage and maintain the facility. The building is energy efficient and sensitive to the natural resources it uses. It features a 120-person auditorium, strength and conditioning center, team rooms, coaches’ offices, meeting and conference rooms, student-athlete lounge area and study area.

Structure Tone Southwest was honored with the Project of the Year Between $1-5M award from the American Subcontractors Association (ASA)–San Antonio Chapter for successfully converting an existing two-story historical building into a design and engineering office building. Our firm was involved with the 14,000sf Storehouse Building project, completing interior and exterior renovations. The annual Excellence in Construction Awards honors outstanding projects in the region.

Hospitality Built and Housing Concept: Architecture Podium’s International Architecture Award

The new 242 West 53rd Street project, managed by Pavarini McGovern, is the recipient of Architecture Podium’s International Architecture Award, in the Hospitality Built and Housing Concept category. Pavarini McGovern provided preconstruction services and is now providing construction management services for this new 576,000sf, 60-story residential tower project. The project is slated for completion in 2017.

Serving as the interior construction manager, Structure Tone received the New Jersey Leading Infrastructure Project Award from the New Jersey Alliance for Action in honor of our work on the Prudential Tower headquarters project located in Newark, NJ. Our firm was honored for our work on the 733,000sf, 20-story office tower. The building, comprised of, two towers, includes a five-level podium, office workspace on 13 full floors and two partial floors with a top floor MEP penthouse. A full-height atrium separates the north and south office towers with bridges located on multiple floors.

The Comcast Innovation & Technology Center project, being built by LF Driscoll, received the ‘Top Deals’ award from the Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2015 Heavy Hitters of Real Estate awards ceremony. The 1,121ft-high, 59-story, state-of-the-art office building will be the tallest skyscraper in Philadelphia when completed in 2018.

University of Hawaii Cancer Center, a 150,000sf, two-building complex located in Honolulu, HI, received two awards from the 2014 AIA Design Awards: the Mayor’s Choice and Jack C. Lipman AIA Members’ Choice Awards. The Mayor’s Choice Award was to “validate the importance of good design in shaping our city and local communities” and the AIA Members’ Choice Award was for “having achieved an outstanding level of design-appropriate to the climate and culture of Hawaii”. LF Driscoll served as preconstruction and construction manager of this project, in partnership with Albert C. Kobayashi, Inc.

Project of the Year Between $5-$10 Million: American Subcontractors Association (ASA)–San Antonio Chapter
NBTY’s “Gummy” Vitamins and Nutritional Supplements Production Facility, San Antonio, TX
Structure Tone Southwest and a team of talented subcontractors converted the old 100,000sf Justin Candy Factory into NBTY’s “Gummy” Vitamins and Nutritional Supplements Production Facility in two phases. Phase pne had a tight four-month timeframe for the team to demolish the existing manufacturing plant; install process piping, intricate ventilation and MEP services; construct environmental rooms for the curing of the product; install and commission the manufacturing line; and deliver a fully functional facility. During Phase Two, the team expanded the light manufacturing space and built out 25,000sf of office space.

Merit Award: Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Greater Houston
Energy Resource Management, Houston, TX
Structure Tone Southwest received a Merit Award for the Energy Resource Management project. Our firm served as construction manager for the 45,000sf, two-floor interior renovation project. The layout of the space was an open concept featuring collaborative space throughout. The project is currently pursuing LEED® Certified certification.

Best Tenant Fit-Out Award: Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA)–Southern Connecticut Chapter

Pavarini was honored with the Tenant Fit-Out award from the Best of BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association) awards ceremony. The relocation of Xylem Inc.’s headquarters, located at Reckson Executive Park, Rye Brook, NY, was recognized for design and construction excellence. The 57,000sf, two-floor project is LEED® Gold certified.

Structure Tone’s St. Patrick’s Cathedral project team received the 2014 Construction Safety Award for Best Practices/Safety Culture from the Building Trades Employer’s Association’s (BTEA) Safety Report Card and Awards ceremony. The safety award was received for our scaffolding safety and the historic restoration of St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

North American Copper in Architecture Award (NACIA): Copper Development Association (CDA)

The iconic St. Patrick’s Cathedral received the North American Copper in Architecture Award (NACIA) from the Copper Development Association (CDA). The 137-year-old Neo-Gothic style Roman Catholic Cathedral underwent a massive restoration project, which included upgrading the cast bronze double-leaf doors and several copper architectural structures inside the Cathedral.

Innovation in the Medium-Data Center and The Green Data Center: DataCenterDynamics (DCD) North American Awards

Structure Tone Southwest received two awards for our mission critical work at the 2014 DataCenterDynamics (DCD) North American Data Center Awards. The project team for the Digital Realty Trust/ARM Holdings data center received the Innovation in a Medium Data Center and Green Data Center awards. The design/build data center project achieved a remarkably low PUE and was CEEDA ratified by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT.
