Structure Tone Southwest Earns National Excellence In Construction Award
Structure Tone Southwest’s work on Vitol’s new Houston headquarters has earned the company a National Excellence in Construction® Pyramid Award from Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) in the “Commercial” project category.
“Structure Tone Southwest earned this Excellence in Construction Pyramid Award through their outstanding craftsmanship, teamwork and world-class safety processes, and Associated Builders and Contractors is pleased to honor them,” said 2017 ABC National Chair Chuck Goodrich, president of Gaylor Electric Inc., Indianapolis. “The uncompromising commitment to top-quality construction was clear from start to finish in building the Vitol office. ABC is proud to claim these leaders in the merit shop construction industry among its members.”
Designed by PDR, Vitol’s sophisticated new 60,000sf Houston office included challenging custom features from a construction point of view, ranging from raised flooring to house data infrastructure and fluted columns, to a double-height, custom ceiling and a specially commissioned architectural sculpture built on-site during construction.
“Vitol’s office is stunning, from the design, to the artwork, to the views of Houston’s skyline,” says Chris Talley, Structure Tone Southwest regional vice president. “We are so honored to have built that space, and we’re extremely proud to see our industry peers recognize the achievement.”
ABC’s Excellence in Construction awards program is the industry’s leading competition, developed to honor innovative and high-quality merit shop construction projects, with an Eagle Award presented to the top project in each category. The award honors all construction team members, including the contractor, owner, architect and engineer. The winning projects, selected from entries submitted from across the nation, were judged on complexity, attractiveness, unique challenges, completion time, workmanship, innovation, safety and cost.
