Afiya Lahens joins STO Building Group as Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Manager
New York, NY (April 7, 2022) – Afiya Lahens has joined the STO Building Group as its new Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Manager. Based in the New York City office, Lahens will lead the organization’s global DEI strategy to help ensure it is ingrained within the firm’s culture, values, and business model.
Lahens began her career in Human Resources at Catalyst, Inc., a nonprofit HR consulting organization focused on helping companies build workplaces that work for women. While there, she led a diversity and inclusion training program that reached over 500 global external audiences and led research initiatives analyzing the experiences of racially and ethnically diverse employees and environments. Her accomplishments at Catalyst led her to take on the role of Vice President of Talent & Diversity at Citi, where she continued to advise on DEI strategies.
As the DEI Manager at STO Building Group, Lahens will continue helping design and implement DEI programs, support the company’s Women in Construction and other diversity groups, help plan and deliver training programs, and lead communications and education across the organization around DEI topics and initiatives.
“Afiya brings her considerable experience and insights in developing, implementing, and championing DEI initiatives to our organization as we continue to support a workplace where everyone feels valued and heard,” says Claudia Healy, Chief Human Resources Officer at STO Building Group. “We’re thrilled to have her join our team and help us continue to foster and forward diversity and inclusion in our everyday practices.”
