In the latest expansion of Holt Renfrew stores across Canada, Govan Brown was hired to complete the Canadian retailer's recent project in Mississauga's Square One Shopping Centre. The three-story, 130,000 square foot store, whose grand opening was July 28th, is highlighted by distinct design features that include atriums with floor to ceiling glass windows allowing the building interior to be bathed in natural light; an open feature staircase, and custom-designed storefront glazing systems complete with 33' tall digital screens.

Most notably, the firm ranked #2 on Building Design + Construction’s Top 100 Office Construction Firms list, part of the magazine’s annual Giants 300 rankings. BD+C’s Giants rankings also listed Structure Tone as the #8 top contractor in the country for the second year in a row.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes, in some form or another, have been around for nearly 20 years. However, in 2007 the UK government issued a country-wide mandate that set out four levels of BIM ranging from 0 to 3, stating that all centrally-funded government projects should achieve Level 2 by 2016. Structure Tone’s UK team embraced the change, making it a central focus area for the practice and its project partners.
