School District of Manatee County Lakewood Ranch High School Addition
This project consisted of a two story 20 classroom addition built on an occupied high school campus. This addition houses two additional science labs, teacher planning/storage areas, mechanical rooms, restrooms and an elevator. Covered walkways connect the new wing to Building Five, behind which the addition was constructed, and the new courtyard creates cohesion and give students a place to gather. The 20-classroom addition added 500 student stations to the campus. These additional seats will help the school accommodate its growing enrollment, which previously was 578 students over the school’s capacity.
The building has a structure and finish that aligns with the existing buildings on campus using structural masonry with brick veneer. The addition eliminated the need for 25 portable classroom buildings on the campus, and the previously existing storm drainage pond was relocated to facilitate the addition.
