Under construction | Orlando Utilities Commission
St. Cloud Operations & Maintenance Facility, Orlando, Florida
Totaling approximately 77,605sf, construction on a new joint use facility for the Orlando Utilities Commission is well underway. Managed by Ajax Building Company, the new operations and maintenance facility will better serve Orlando and parts of both Orange and Osceola counties by creating one central location.
The project vision includes a 55,000sf warehouse, a 22,000sf fleet repair facility for line trucks, and a fuel island to efficiently service their fleet of vehicles. Pursuing LEED Gold certification, the facility is targeting a net-zero campus, with roof-mounted solar photo-voltaic cells (PV panels), high-efficiency water fixtures, and electric vehicle charging stations. Before construction began, the Ajax team helped collect and recycle concrete products left on the project site, which are being repurposed in the Atlantic Ocean as a reef for marine life.
The campus will also emphasize safety, health, and well-being for its employees and the surrounding community by providing a Fitwel-certified, employee-focused building design with an outdoor fitness loop for walking and biking. The new campus is expected to be completed by 2023.
