Lincoln Logistics 40
Lincoln Logistics 40, or “Lincoln Airfield”, is a 900,000-square-foot industrial building that sits adjacent to the Goodyear Airport. When it comes to features and amenities, this spec building developed by Lincoln Property Co. checks all of the boxes. Some of the unique features include a competing 40-foot clear height (first in the market to achieve this), moment frame bracing to allow for design flexibility, and a covered break patio for employees to enjoy as an additional amenity space.
Aesthetically, the facility features a wing-like design on three corners of the building as a tribute to the location. As mentioned, the building is close in proximity to the airport which could cater to prospective companies where both air and road transit are critical to their operation. During construction, the owner had made a crucial decision to change from K bracing to a moment frame design. This resulted in a surplus in steel inventory already purchased and delivered to the jobsite. To be as efficient as possible, Layton found another jobsite in need of steel and sold the surplus just in time—benefitting both projects.
Through both good timing and strategic thinking, Layton was able to help a client looking for a creative solution.
