BCCI completed the integrated design-build delivery of McAfee’s San Jose headquarters, which includes two floors of open workspace with an architectural interconnecting stair and an executive briefing center on the ground floor. A design-build approach was utilized to meet the client’s fast track schedule.
The project presented challenges along the way; for example, the interconnecting stair was added after the original plans were completed, and the overall project budget was also decreased. Through all-hands value engineering workshops, the team collectively modified the finishes and fixtures and reduced the audiovisual and furniture scopes to meet McAfee’s new budget and schedule requirements.
Despite being shuttered for a time due to COVID-19 shelter-in-place orders, the project was restarted and finished with quality and accuracy under enhanced jobsite protocols. The result of a collaborative team-focused process, McAfee’s new headquarters earned a zero punch list.
