Ultradent
With Ultradent’s rapid growth, we have worked on the company’s campus several times in past years, renovating and expanding its manufacturing and distribution facility over three phases.
For the first phase, the team performed the expansion of Ultradent’s existing South Jordan manufacturing building. The next expansion occurred in two additional phases. Phase II included a 6,000-square-foot (building footprint) expansion of the formulations area where the majority of the manufacturing takes place. This consisted of light process piping, indoor product tanks, mixers, and other light manufacturing equipment on the first floor. The second floor serves as open space to eventually be built out as office space. Phase III included an 80,000-square-foot (building footprint) expansion that primarily serves as a shipping/receiving and warehouse space with the option of a second level for additional light manufacturing.
Ultradent also commissioned our team to add a fourth floor to an existing building at its headquarters campus in South Jordan. This floor addition included more office space and a high-end conference room for the purpose of demoing new Ultradent products developed in the R&D facilities to visiting professionals. Other practical elements included extending the elevator and adding more parking space. Adding a new floor on top of three existing ones required structural upgrades. Structural steel and shock-crete concrete were applied to the exterior of the buildings so the construction would not interfere with ongoing operations inside.
This project had only 30 feet outside the building to use as staging area. This was especially challenging considering the expansion was over 50 feet up. The project manager spent months preparing the strategy to navigate the logistics of just-in-time material deliveries, special equipment, and scheduling.
