project
BCCI completed construction for the expansion of Comcast’s Silicon Valley Innovation Center. Utilizing a design-build approach for the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, the improvements provide additional space for 110 new employees on the 1st floor and 5th floors. By scheduling a series of over-the-counter plan reviews with the building department, permits were obtained in just a week.
The new branded space, built from cold shell condition, comprises an open office plan with furniture workstations, a 2,500 square foot server room/lab space, perimeter offices and conference rooms, and a 3,000 square foot break room/all hands assembly area with a catering kitchen. To meet the client’s enhanced cooling needs, a 50 ton chiller was added to the building system without taking the system off-line. The project was constructed using sustainable building methods to meet the building’s LEED Gold requisite for all tenants. In addition to general contracting services, BCCI provided LEED consulting services to help navigate the green building requirements and maximize the number of LEED points obtainable during the design and construction process. The result of a collaborative, integrative planning process with all team members, the project was just awarded LEED-CI Gold certification by the USGBC.
