Salt Lake Adult Detention Complex
Under a joint venture with another construction company, Layton Construction built the Salt Lake County Adult Detention Center. The Salt Lake County Jail represents the largest single construction project in the county’s history, which includes the following key components:
- A total of 1,044 cells with 2,088 beds
- Four housing pods, which are each 117,746 SF
- A 44,650 SF food services building
- A 127,018 SF jail support facility
- A central plant and sheriff’s office that total 84,235 SF
In addition to serving as the construction manager for the project, Layton performed all of the concrete work for the housing pods. Layton also constructed a 40,000-square-foot Special Operations Center as part of the project. This facility is used for county operations storage as well as evidence storage and processing.
