MongoDB Dublin
Building 2, Number 1 Ballsbridge was chosen by MongoDB as their new base of operations in Dublin. The project included an internal fit-out of the ground floor, reception area, and first, second, and third floors. The new office features wall and ceiling finishes, training and meeting rooms, open plan desking, breakout space, and a canteen that doubles as an “all hands” space on the third floor. The Dublin team also took on minor works for the completion of existing landlord toilet areas within the cores.
The office floors sit within an overall larger development, which includes additional blocks of apartments and offices. Block 2 has a double basement, retail units, residential foyer, office reception at ground floor, offices on the first, second, and third floors with apartments above. As the scope involved working within an office shell, there was minimal demolition.
Ground Floor
The ground floor area is a very bright open space featuring a large reception area that is complemented by a feature AV installation, large statement joinery items, and wall finishes.
First & Second Floors
Both levels are mirrored—meaning meeting spaces, offices, and the open layout are aligned across each level. A very detailed joinery comprising of a tea station, collaboration space, and bespoke pergola item visible from any viewpoint add to the very spacious feel.
Third Floor
The third floor is home to a large canteen area, which is complimented by a 50-person bleacher. This dual purpose area includes integrated AV within feature joinery. Other elements contained are large meeting spaces, open plan workstations, and cellular offices.
Highlights include:
- Partnering with the client and the design team to deliver MongoDB’s new prestige Dublin headquarters building.
- Detailed finishes packages including acoustics, floor coverings, graphics, and joinery.
- Extensive value engineering process on appointment of all packages. This process gave a greater understanding of the needs of the client and the elements of importance which were not to be compromised.
