American Bible Faith and Liberty Discovery Center
Independence Mall gained a new, unique, and immersive experience that illustrates and celebrates the relationship between faith and liberty in America from its founding to today.
The construction involved the renovation space in an existing building on the first floor and an addition at street level in an occupied building at a busy urban intersection. Our team managed the integration of the galleries and exhibits, including the A/V elements and new infrastructure. Our team coordinated structural elements for the installation of a unique sculpture that begins inside of the new addition and extends onto the roof.
Great care was taken to avoid disruption to the operations of building tenants, including those to mission critical facilities that could negatively impact banking operations for the main tenant. We worked closely with the building’s owner to verify technical details were approved to keep the project moving.
Pre-planning and communication were critical with the client and the hierarchy of stakeholders that represent the building owner and tenants. All facilities shutdowns of existing building systems required 21-day notice. Meetings were held daily with a rolling four-week “look ahead” of construction activities and pending shutdowns. Demolition was performed at night with debris containers removal early in the morning to reduce the impact on traffic and other building occupants. The street closure concept was also a collaboration with the Philadelphia Streets Department and SEPTA.
