Construction has recently topped out on Pavarini McGovern’sGo to https://stobuildinggroup.com/pavarini-mcgovern/ latest project at 1 West 60th Street, an out-of ground luxury residential tower situated at the southwest corner of Central Park with sweeping views of Columbus Circle. PMG is working cooperatively with Rose Associates Inc. on behalf of Global Holdings Management Group and SLCE Architects on the construction of the new residential building.
The 29-story poured-in-place concrete building consists of 124 luxury rental apartments and features three high-end retail stores at grade, as well as amenities on the 2nd and 27th floors. Two levels below grade are designated mechanical spaces and tenant storage areas. The building is clad in a combination of window wall, brick veneer, and metal panel rain screens with punched openings. The address previously housed a 12-story building and a 4-story building—both of which were demolished prior to construction.
Located in one of the busiest intersections in Manhattan and above a major subway hub, the project posed several logistical challenges. The PMG team coordinated with the MTA to construct a subway entrance on the ground floor within the building property line. To account for the mass amounts of pedestrian and vehicular traffic passing through the area, pedestrian paths and sidewalk bridges were installed along Broadway and West 60th Street. The new residential building is expected to be completed by fall 2023.
