Structure Tone Boston 40 Broad Street
With their lease expiring just as the effects of the pandemic on the workforce were becoming clear, our Boston team took the opportunity to take a hard look at the needs and wants of their business and employees. They chose to move to a new space at 40 Broad Street, rejuvenating the office dynamic with the amenities, flexibility, opportunities for collaboration, and bustling neighborhood their former space lacked. The office also gave them the opportunity to create a space that matches the high caliber of the workplaces they build for the clients.
The 11,172sf building provided the team with upgraded technology, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a much-expanded variety of work areas. Employing our own Quality 360° approach to managing the project, the team maintained constant communication and transparency with our design partners, honed our attention to detail, and allowed us to apply best practices from our own work to make sure the facility met all of our needs and solved our concerns.
The office is certified LEED-CI v4.1 Silver. In addition to the abundant natural light and efficient MEP systems, the project reused roughly 70% of our furniture, saving extra costs, avoiding landfill waste, and proving a successful case study for a second life of products. We also implemented an extensive paper recycling effort during the move, resulting in 1.24 metric tons of recycled paper.
The new office has been a resounding success. According to our systems, meeting spaces are approximately 75-80% occupied on a given day, and a recent anonymous employee survey backs up that the move truly improved the employee experience. “We have high employee morale, engagement, social interaction, employee events and amenities, and pride in our workplace.”
