Structure Tone established its mark on Manhattan’s West Side at Hudson Yards, the largest private real estate development in the United States to date, with the build-out of Boston Consulting Group’s (BCG) headquarters. Continuing our longstanding relationship with management consulting firm, Structure Tone’s project involved designing and constructing the six-floor, 193,295sf offices for BCG in the newly constructed 10 Hudson Yards.

The design was centered on four key goals: collaboration and connectivity, a wide variety of flexible spaces, seamless technology, and a compelling experience for employees and guests. The new space meetings those goals through such collaborative features as a “neighborhood” seating system to promote practice area/function affiliation and idea sharing, communal seating “landing zones,” a wide variety of room types and flexible spaces to support different work styles and uses and a large, centrally located café that offers free food and barista-made beverages by a local merchant. Technology includes a custom mobile app to reserve room space and state-of-the-art video and audio capabilities are in all conference rooms, including a display screen that acts as a touch-enabled digital canvas.
The space is very diverse. Every room has different colors and patterns. Our construction team brought that striking vision to life through detailed planning and smart execution, despite a busy and congested construction site. Many materials, furnishings, and décor were custom, meaning the construction team not only had to account for their unique installation and integration into the larger picture, but also for their long-lead times.
With careful planning and constant site management, our team delivered a finished office both within BCG’s budget and target move-in date. By ensuring that the space was completed on time with its technology and other support systems, the construction team helped make the move an easy transition and keep BCG’s business as usual.
