Philadelphia Inquirer Office Fit-Out
Structure Tone fit out the main offices for the Philadelphia Inquirer, perhaps the most well-known newspaper native to the City of Brotherly Love. Selected as CM in part due to our extensive experience in the building and sound reputation for constructing high-end office spaces, we were supported during the selection process by the building’s landlord, Keystone. The new office space covers the entire sixth floor of 100 S. Independence Mall West, encompassing nearly 30,000sf.
Construction was slated to last 18 weeks, an aggressive schedule requiring strong collaboration from subcontractors, vendors, and trade partners. The entire team found it necessary to navigate supply chain disruptions by releasing key components early, methodically, and quickly, adapting when issues arose.
The project overlooks one of the most historic areas in Philadelphia: Independence Mall. A three-block section of Independence National Historic Park, Independence Mall features the Liberty Bell, Declaration House, and Congress Hall, just to name a few. Many of the rooms in office are named after notable streets throughout Philly, a uniquely local touch to the Inquirer’s offices. There was also an expansive photo and video room/studio tucked away in one of the quieter corners of the office. Featuring space for videos to be edited and professional back drops to be used for shoots, everything is cutting-edge and above the industry standard.
