Wells Fargo Center
The Wells Fargo Center—home to the Philadelphia 76ers, Flyers, Wings, and Soul—is a top 10 venue in the US for sports, concerts, and other attractions. And for the past several years, it’s also been a home for Structure Tone Philadelphia, who is proudly maintaining the successful relationship with owner Comcast Spectacor, begun 30 years ago by LF Driscoll.
As the Wells Fargo Center approached its 20th year in operation in 2016, Comcast Spectacor found themselves facing a tough decision of building a brand-new facility or renovating the current arena to meet modern standards. The team ultimately decided to launch an extensive, strategically phased upgrade plan, from amenities and restrooms, to food and drink service, to seating areas and boxes.
Structure Tone joined the project in late 2016, renovating the luxury suite level and upgrading 82 suites, as well as sections of the main concourse. In 2017, they continued along the concourse and moved to mezzanine level seating, concessions, and restrooms. By 2018, the team completed the mezzanine and continued the concourse. Work continued in 2019 on main concourse bars and concessions, the box office, performers’ rooms, employee locker rooms, the event-level club, event storage space, and several more VIP areas. In 2020, the team replaced the main concourse ceiling and renovated the Club Level. They also expanded the entrances and built two canopies, completed the main concourse floor and ceiling work, renovated the 76ers’ and Flyers’ locker rooms, and added a new VIP Club.
The team kicked off 2023 by building new external canopies at the site. Later that summer, they completed phase two of major site and civil work, upgrades to the Event Level Club, performers’ rooms, employee locker rooms, 76ers’ and Flyers’ locker rooms, and main concourse concessions, as well as renovations to event storage spaces and VIP areas.
“Partnered with Structure Tone, our Building Operations team renovated the entire Wells Fargo Center, and never closed for business. The collaborative effort between our departments was on full display. Structure Tone understood our needs and accepted the challenges of working inside a burdensome schedule. Together, we tested our staffs, but also built teams where employees flourished. Through a strong belief in mentorship, training, and diligence, we took our projects from concept through design and completion. Throughout our seven years of construction, our projects were delivered on time and with the utmost in craftsmanship.” –-Tim Allen, Vice President Operations at Wells Fargo Center, Comcast Spectacor
