DNB Financial
Construction of DNB Financial: Norway’s largest financial services group, DNB, selected Structure Tone to help them create a new, dynamic workspace that would prioritize employees, represent the company’s brand and culture, support collaboration, and inspire engagement. Their 20,000sf office at Hudson Yards offered the perfect setting against panoramic views of New York City and the Hudson River.
Requirements of the DNB Financial Construction Project
The relocation represented an opportunity for DNB to transition into a more digitally oriented, dynamic, and forward-thinking organization. One of DNB’s construction requirements was meeting Level of Development (LOD) 500 standards, the highest BIM criteria. Our team used BIM technology during the design and construction phases to reduce risk, improve efficiencies, provide an accurate as-built digital record, and create an asset information model – all of which will assist DNB’s facilities and maintenance group in the future. Our team used this fully organized BIM model for the ductwork fabrication, a challenging process due to the incredible amount of ductwork that had to be coordinated and integrated.
Integration of DNB Financial Brand
As a 200-year-old Norwegian financial institution, the workplace reflects DNB’s brand and identity through materials and finishes inspired by Scandinavian design. Warm oak and walnut wood tones, and deep greens and blues represent Norway’s natural landscape, contrasting against its current New York City backdrop. The construction of the reception area was informed by the structure of a Viking ship with a unique connecting space that features a Northern Lights installation. A variety of collaborative spaces, including multiple meeting rooms, social hub café, multi-purpose conference space, and additional communal areas, support alternative workstyles.
DNB’s space balances the demands of its business and the needs of its people. The workplace offers an adaptive framework of flexible environments, with an emphasis on sustainability and wellness, achieving WELL Gold and LEED Gold certifications.
