Mutual of America
Since 2020, Structure Tone has completed several projects for the retirement and investment solutions company, Mutual of America Financial Group. This office consolidation and restack– also an ICAP project – consisted of renovating and modernizing floors 4, 5, and 6 and was designed to accommodate 250 employees. This consisted of both private and open offices, conference rooms equipped with technology for virtual and in person meetings, strategically placed support rooms for easy employee access, and robust IT facilities ensuring a resilient technological infrastructure.
The 6th floor serves as the executive office floor. Key features include custom lighting solutions, with fixtures sourced from custom Lighting Workshop. We also used Axis Lighting from Chicago, and I2 Systems Lighting from Connecticut. Additionally, a pantry art wall was crafted from quartz and Corian and complemented by Calacatta Macchia Vecchia marble. To create a contrast, the receptionist desk was fashioned from Kenya Black marble.
A notable aspect of the project was the installation of a new convenience stair, enhancing connectivity and accessibility. We constructed this three-floor staircase with stone and leather handrails; used intumescent paint on internal columns; installed porcelain floor tiles; and built walls with rift-cut white oak and fabric wall panels that added a contemporary touch.
This project involved MEPS work in the plumbing division, where we built 4 pantries equipped with sinks, ice makers, and water dispensers. We also constructed 2 ADA-compliant restrooms, 2 executive showers and restrooms, and 2 full restrooms on each floor. Additionally, we established a new MDF to support the office’s technological requirements.
During Phase 1, we completed floors 5 and 6 of the project in approximately 7 months. Phase 2 was centered on the renovation of the 4th floor. Our team maintained a coordinated approach adhering to the predetermined schedule and budget constraints. The renovation of the 4th floor involved similar design considerations. Throughout the week, various team members convened in smaller groups for meetings, facilitating collaborative review of all the information.
