NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, Medical Office Building
LF Driscoll Healthcare’s ongoing relationship with NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital spans several projects, including the fit-out of a three-story, core-and-shell building to accommodate medical offices for the NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group practice in Brooklyn’s East Midwood neighborhood. This new facility features OB/GYN services on the first floor, primary care on the second floor, and orthopedics on the third floor, with space beneath the facility for parking on the basement level.
Located in a thriving residential section in Brooklyn, our team had to juggle work hours that were strictly enforced to accommodate residential concerns. With neighbors in their homes, right next to the site, cleanliness and minimizing construction dust were critical.
In addition to the core interior build-out scope of work, new infrastructure, mechanical ventilation (including roof top handling and exhaust fans), plumbing and sprinkler systems, and an electrical distribution service were installed. We had to devise a system to keep this new facility connected to the NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital campus, located about 5.5 miles away in Park Slope. This required establishing a reliable communication link between the building‘s MEP automation system, fire alarm notification systems, and the hospital’s operations team. Working in partnership with NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital’s engineering staff and our subcontractors, we were able to define the data links required to provide monitoring of this remote location and its detection systems.
