North Alabama Medical Center
To meet the growing healthcare needs of the residents of Florence, Alabama, long-time client RCCH Healthcare Partners hired Layton to construct a new replacement hospital spanning 25 acres at the North Alabama Medical Center campus. This facility replaced the existing Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital, which Layton demolished as the team completed the new facility.
The five-floor, 263-bed acute care hospital features 14 operating rooms, a 36-bed ED with four trauma rooms and 30 exam rooms, 52 critical care beds, and large private patient rooms. Additionally, the facility houses surgical, interventional, and diagnostic services, four cath labs, three nuclear medicine rooms, and full-service imaging/diagnostics. With state-of-the-art features throughout and MEP systems designed for efficiency and cost savings, the medical center offers the full spectrum of services to its community.
Set in a rural area, North Alabama Medical Center serves five surrounding counties in south-central Tennessee, northwest Alabama, and northeast Mississippi. The project leaves additional space for future expansion.
