The Alexander at 1601 Vine Street
LF Driscoll is proud of our relationship with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day SaintsGo to https://stobuildinggroup.com/lfdriscoll/latter-day-saints-phila/. In a joint venture with Big-D Construction we also constructed the Philadelphia TempleGo to https://stobuildinggroup.com/lfdriscoll/latter-day-saints-phila/ and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints MeetinghouseGo to https://stobuildinggroup.com/lfdriscoll/latter-day-saints-phila-meeting/ which are located on Vine Street just west of The Alexander.
Completed in 2018, The Alexander features 32 floors of 264 market-rate apartments and 13 townhouses, with 12,000sf of street-level retail and a three below-grade parking structure, the lower two levels of which was excavated through solid rock. Amenities include private balconies for many of the units, an indoor pool, fitness center, clubroom, demonstration kitchen, rooftop observation deck, business center and landscaped courtyard featuring historic-style street lamps, brick and blue stone. Terraces throughout the building include have green roofs, and the bio basins at the motor court are landscaped.
Architecturally, The Alexander complements the Georgian and Federal architecture present in its neighborhood. The first four floors feature hand-laid buff colored brick, with brick-inlaid precast panels completing the remainder of the building. This application required significant structural and façade coordination, a process that was aided by Virtual Design and Construction (VDC). The building’s MEP systems were coordinated with VDC as well.
Craftsmanship was key on this luxury apartment rental, with special attention to detail above and beyond a typical Class A apartment building. The level of quality required by the client was reminiscent of that of the Philadelphia Temple one block west.
