Structure Tone managed the complete renovation and fit-out of two floors of corporate office space for the Philadelphia, PA, branch of Grant Thornton LLP, the U.S. member firm of Grant Thornton International Ltd., a leading independent audit, tax and advisory organization. The work was undertaken to relocate some staff from existing space on the 28th, 30th, 31st and 32nd floors to the 7th and 8th floors. The project comprised a total of 63,000sf and was designed to reduce Grant Thornton’s carbon footprint. As such, it achieved a LEED® Silver certification.
At the project’s onset, we organized two-day submittal boot-camp sessions with the architect Gensler and trades. We published session agendas, and participating trades were allotted a daily review period. These productive sessions reduced shop revision time.
Throughout the project, we communicated frequently with Gensler’s Chicago-based team and conducted regular project walk-through’s to ensure that we met all of Grant Thornton’s design intentions and project goals. Our team kept Grant Thornton and owner’s representative B&K proactively up-to-date regarding potential change items (PCIs), requests for information (RFIs), design-team correspondences and the project’s financial status.
The resultant renovation accommodates close to 450 employees in a better, more efficient environment of naturally lit work spaces containing modern conference and team rooms that incorporate state-of-the-art A/V and video conferencing capabilities. Additional key upgrades include a high-end boardroom, executive & general offices, high density files, IDF/MDF closets, a multi-purpose/training room with skyfold partition, pantries and employee lounge areas.
We completed the project on an aggressive 13-week schedule, which required day and night shifts for the construction period’s first three weeks.
