Structure Tone provided construction management services for HarperCollins Publisher’s 185,000sf headquarters. The project encompasses six floors in historic 195 Broadway for approximately 600 employees. The scope of work included a reception area, infrastructure upgrades, general office space, an executive floor with private offices, bathrooms, pantries, and a grand staircase/public assembly area.
Preconstruction was key during the initial phases of this project. Our team was onboard at the start to address and solve any potential problems before shop drawings were finalized. During precon, we identified long-lead items, such as the specific lights needed for the low ceiling heights, and pre-purchased the specific indirect, LED system that uses knife-edge fixtures.
Located between the 22nd and 23rd floor, the internal staircase is the office’s focal point. We built this stair with extra-wide steps made of wood from Austria. Another specialty feature is a two-story history wall, designed by the History Factory, which serves as a visual timeline of HarperCollins’ prestigious publishing past.
