Structure Tone recently completed this 10,000sf lab expansion and renovation project for a confidential client in Devens, Massachusetts. The goal was to expand the manufacturing lab to accommodate additional testing of biological products.
With Ultradent’s rapid growth, we have worked on the company’s campus several times in past years, renovating and expanding its manufacturing and distribution facility over three phases.
Specializing in the development and production of medical devices, Biomerics made the decision to relocate their corporate offices to Salt Lake City. Layton performed the tenant improvement of the existing building—providing corporate offices, engineering offices, clean room manufacturing spaces (Class ISO 8), and research and development labs.

In collaboration with architect G70, Layton Construction led a design-build project for the University of Hawaii at Manoa’s Life Sciences Building. The process began with a demolition of the university’s existing structure, Henke Hall, and the removal and replacement of contaminated soil for the new facility.
University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) selected Structure Tone Southwest to complete a 12,580sf renovation project to the first floor of their Center for Biohealth Building to house an Imaging Suite for a high-profile Alzheimer’s research study. The renovations were completed within an occupied facility while maintaining safe and open access to the building’s mechanical and utility plant systems.
Structure Tone continually seeks to partner with leading medical and pharmaceutical institutions to advance the fight against today’s new and ongoing health risks. When Texas Biomedical Research Institute (Texas Biomed), needed to upgrade and expand, we were their premier construction partner.
Structure Tone provided construction management services for a new bioterrorism lab being constructed by Brooks Development Authority for the City of San Antonio Metro Health Division. The new facility includes a 10,000 square foot BSL 3 lab and a 2,500 square foot BSL 2 lab.
DPT Laboratories’ goal is to provide its healthcare partners with the best solutions to their development and manufacturing needs, much in the same way Structure Tone’s goal was to provide DPT with the best solutions for their construction needs. Our firm provided construction management services for the core and shell, interior fit-out and site work for a new 258,000sf complex.
Axalta
Opening in 2018, this 175,000sf Global Innovation Center located in Philadelphia’s historic Navy Yard, brings research, product development, and technology initiatives together in one location. To meet an ambitious schedule to deliver the project three months early, the team had to handle all the complexities involved in building a unique lab building - custom air handling systems, a utility plant, custom paint spray booths, purifying exhaust equipment – combined with all the elements of a corporate headquarters building.
