One Five One Lobby
Located in the heart of Times Square, the Durst Organization commissioned a $100M capital improvement program to upgrade its iconic tower that serves as headquarters to many prestigious companies and a major broadcast facility for TV and radio. Steps away from Grand Central Terminal, Port Authority Bus Terminal and Penn Station, Structure Tone completed the renovation of Four Times Square’s entrance and lobby.
The 13,000sf reconfiguration consisted refreshing the lobby and its two entrances on 42nd and 43rd Streets. We installed new finishes, including an eye-catching curved ceiling, designed by HOK and comprised of 750 GFRG (glass fiber reinforced gypsum) coffered panels. Each panel, painted at the seams for a flawless finish, hangs separately from the others and was fitted while the building remained fully operational.
We equipped the entrances with new revolving and hinged double doors, which we assimilated into the existing glazing. We also added two stainless steel bands, one at eye level and the other acting as a header above the glazing. We thoroughly cleaned the curtain wall surface and applied a bomb blast window film. Outside, we put new pavers and curbs along both entry points.
In the elevator lobby, we outfitted the bank with wood wall paneling, stainless steel entrances, a destination dispatch system and large glass backlit LED panels with light fixtures. We fit-out the entire lobby floor in specialty Italian granite with new reception areas, turnstiles and security desks.
