Institute for Healthcare Improvement
IHI (Institute for Healthcare Improvement) decided to relocate their headquarters, making the jump from Cambridge to Boston’s Financial District. As a leading innovator in worldwide healthcare, they sought to create a space that incorporates their global presence with an enhanced sense of community.
Their new 27,000sf space at 53 State Street includes an open layout, spacious views and natural lighting. To better accommodate visiting doctors and healthcare professionals from around the world, Structure Tone built a variety of communal areas and training rooms that allow for both formal and informal collaboration. These spaces, along with a new reception area, café, coffee bar and catering pantry were all created with global influence and design in mind.
As a socially responsible nonprofit company, IHI sought to incorporate other like-minded businesses into their relocation project. In their café hangs pendent light fixtures made from recycled plastic bottles built by a nonprofit manufacturer that provides employment for underprivileged women.
Equipped with unique finishes from around the world and a welcoming environment, IHI’s new home is a true reflection of their organization’s mission as a partner in global healthcare.
