Mount Ida: Dining Hall, Dental School and Gymnasium
This 23,000sf project entailed the modernization of Carlson Hall to create a new campus center and a new main dining facility with the goal of enhancing the overall dining experience for students on campus.
The scope of work included the rehabilitation of the Carlson Hall building envelope to eliminate existing deficiencies, two small additions to expand the dining accommodations and a third to create a new student entrance featuring a two-story atrium. Work also included significant design/build MEP infrastructure upgrades and interior renovations to allow for additional seating, a larger kitchen area, food and beverage stations, increased common areas, retail dining and server in the basement, and the office of Student Life on the second floor.
In addition to the campus center, Structure Tone also renovated Mount Ida’s Dental School and Gymnasium. Renovations to the Dental School included the installation of dental chairs and the construction of a new work lab. The gymnasium received new “Visiting Team” lockers, showers and restrooms as well as a new Aerobics room and fitness center with exterior glass storefronts.
