Structure Tone London managed the construction of the new headquarters offices of 30 Euston Square for The Royal College of General Practitioners’ (RCGP) in their first move in half a century.
RCGP is the largest professional body representing General Practitioners (GPs) in the United Kingdom and, with over 45,000 members, had outgrown the premises they occupied for over 50 years.
A technically complex refurbishment project, the site was originally made up of three separate Grade II listed buildings known today as 30 Euston Square. The works included major structural modifications in all buildings, which are now joined by covered light wells and glass link bridges with new scenic lifts and a rooftop extension with terrace.
Engineering Challenge:
The supporting internal columns between the ground and basement levels were removed to create a tiered auditorium and training facilities as well as a full catering kitchen to service the ground floor restaurant and the 41 on-suite study rooms provided for GPs to use as training facilities for extended periods.
Digital Construction:
Structure Tone used its in-house 3D services to explore, model and carefully plan its logistics strategy, avoiding catastrophic congestion caused by unplanned deliveries and road closures to Central London’s busy Euston Road.
