School District of Manatee County Lakewood Ranch High School Addition
This project consists of a two story 20 classroom addition to be built on an occupied high school campus. This addition will house two additional science labs, teacher planning/storage areas, mechanical rooms, restrooms and an elevator. Covered walkways will connect the new wing to Building Five, behind which the addition will be constructed, and a new courtyard will create cohesion and give students a place to gather. The 20-classroom addition will add 500 student stations to the campus. These additional seats will help the school accommodate its growing enrollment, which sits at 2,396 students and is 578 students over the school’s capacity.
The building will have a structure and finish to align with the existing buildings on campus using structural masonry with brick veneer. The addition is being built to eliminate the need for the 25 portable classroom buildings on the campus. The existing storm drainage pond will be relocated to facilitate the addition.
