Structure Tone Southwest managed construction of a new broadcast studio and production facility, as well as office support space, for Comcast SportsNet. Located in the heart of downtown Houston, a key feature of the new studio is the full-length windows that allow passersby to see into the newsroom and watch live broadcasts in action.
An integral part of the local community, the network is the primary broadcaster of the Houston Rockets, Astros and Dynamos, as well as a myriad of other local collegiate and professional sports organizations.
The TV studio is a state-of-the-art complex. It can accommodate wireless or wired broadcast of television (HD and non-HD), radio, motion picture, internet and other programming / entertainment services. The space includes news room / live broadcast areas, editing rooms, and pre and post production facilities. In addition to the broadcast facility, the project encompassed construction of general office space. This included open and closed offices, reception area, conference and break rooms and restrooms. There is also an interconnecting stair and elevators.
A main feature of the studio is its interface with the local public. It is located in Houston Pavilions – a premier entertainment, dining, retail and office hub in downtown Houston. To assimilate with the overall aesthetic of the area, aluminum and glass storefronts were added to the first and second levels that overlook public walkways.
