Sea Containers House – Ogilvy Group & MEC New London HQ
Sea Containers House was originally conceived as an iconic 1960s waterfront hotel but in 1974 the impressive building was repurposed for office space and was occupied by the shipping company until recent years.
In 2015, Ogilvy Group and MEC adopted Sea Containers as their new home. Structure Tone were selected to refurbish the interiors in accordance with BDG’s ambitious design, marking a new era for the building.
Now home to over 2,500 staff with over 220,000sf of office space; the intention was not only to create a unique space where clients and staff felt relaxed but also where people could connect more and ultimately increase productivity.
Our management and supply chain bought into the design concept and developed the base scheme into workable solutions that were both practical and efficient.
This was particularly evident through the delivery of nine new unique staircases, new river deck space within the existing building fabric, an oak timber amphitheatre with spectacular lighting and audio facilities, three new kitchens, two new bars and 16 “grab and go” bars.
Design solutions were presented with full buildability and structural analysis to fast-track (36 weeks) programme milestones.
